Pulp Riot FACTION8 Chart: 82 permanent shades

Pulp Riot (L'Oréal) is the American salon-exclusive brand famous for its vivids — but its FACTION8 permanent is a pure level-reflect technical system with no fantasy names. Here are its 82 shades verified against the official 2025 swatch chart, including the High Lift series (level 11).

It mixes with Pulp Riot Developer and goes on dry, unwashed hair, at the ratio and timing printed on the official chart. The High Lift series has its own mix and performs best on level 5 or lighter bases.

  • Level (1-10, plus 11 High Lift): depth, from black to high lift.
  • Reflect: -0 natural, -00 double natural (intense gray coverage), -03 natural gold, -1 ash, -2 violet, -3 gold, -34 gold copper, -4 copper, -5 red violet, -6 red, -7 matte, -8 brown.
  • Doubled digit = same family, intensified: 6-66 is the level-6 red with a double pigment dose (same for -22, -44, -55).

Official technical note: the naturals (-00, -0, -03) are cool-based. The -11/-22/-44 boosters are level-less intensifier additives — they do not count as shades.

Pulp Riot's product page calls for mixing FACTION8 at 1 part color to 1 part Pulp Riot Developer, on dry, unwashed hair. That page gives two different processing times, 35 and 45 minutes: check the one on your packaging. The High Lift series is the exception: 1 part color to 2 parts developer and 45-55 minutes; the maker does not recommend mixing them with other shades, and they perform best on levels 5 and lighter.

No fixed level: they belong to the Semi-Permanent Collection, direct dye applied straight from the tube with no developer on pre-lightened hair — the brand’s official look guide works on levels 8-10. It is not a level-reflect formula, which is why they are not in the numeric table.

Pulp Riot's product page advertises up to 100% gray coverage for FACTION8. On 100% white hair, it recommends mixing 1/4 to 1/2 of the Natural (-0) series into the formula, and for intense coverage, the -00 (Double Natural) series. For developer, the same page suggests 10 vol for clients with less than 25% gray and fine hair, and 20 vol for medium or coarse texture. The house naturals (-00, -0, -03) are cool-based, so on warm-base gray it pays to consider the resulting tone.
