- Level 6 red, Koleston Perfect
Your client is a natural level 6, more than half gray, and wants a level 6 Koleston Perfect red. You want to make sure it covers.
What do the Koleston Perfect usage guidelines call for to cover this much gray?
What the manufacturer says
6/43 (Vibrant Reds family) and 6/0 are only level 6 examples.
To cover gray, the Koleston Perfect usage guidelines (2023) add a Pure Naturals shade to the chosen shade: one third for 30-50% gray (their example, 15 g 7/0 to 45 g 7/75) and half for 50-100% (30 g 7/0 + 30 g 7/75 + 60 g Welloxon Perfect 6%). The rule is general: the guidelines give no separate ratio for reds.
