INOA Color Chart: 35 ammonia-free permanent shades

INOA (Innovation No Ammonia) is L'Oréal Professionnel's ammonia-free permanent color. Its ODS (Oil Delivery System) uses an oil base to carry pigment into the fiber: 100% gray coverage and up to 3 levels of lift, odorless and with maximum scalp comfort.

The mix is 1:1 with INOA Rich developer (60 g of color + 60 ml of developer): 10 vol for tone-on-tone, 20 vol for gray and 1-2 levels, 30 vol for 2-3 levels. It is a dense texture that works best weighed on a scale.

How to read an INOA shade

INOA uses L'Oréal's classic dot notation: 7.1 = level 7 (medium blonde), ash reflect.

  • Level (1-10): depth, from black to lightest blonde.
  • Reflect: .1 ash, .2 iridescent, .3 gold, .4 copper, .5 mahogany, .6 red, .7 matte/green, .8 mocha.
  • Double reflect: the first digit dominates — 7.13 is ash with a golden background.

Unlike Igora, this system matches the universal standard (.5 is mahogany, .7 is matte), so shades translate almost directly from Majirel: a Majirel 6.3 and an INOA 6.3 target the same result with different chemistry.
