Majirel is L'Oréal Professionnel's classic permanent and one of the most-formulated charts in salons for decades: 100% gray coverage, up to 3 levels of lift, and the widest reflect range in the house. Here are its 72 shades organized by level.

Majirel's signature mix is 1:1.5 — 50 ml of color with 75 ml of L'Oréal developer (20 vol standard for gray, 30 vol to lift 2-3 levels). Processing time: 35 minutes.

How to read a Majirel shade

Majirel uses L'Oréal's dot notation: 6.3 = level 6 (dark blonde), golden reflect.

  • Level (1-10): depth, from black to lightest blonde.
  • Reflect: .1 ash, .2 iridescent, .3 gold, .4 copper, .5 mahogany, .6 red, .7 matte, .8 mocha.
  • Double reflect: the first digit rules — 8.34 is gold with a copper nuance.

Majirel is the usual reference when translating shades between brands, but its key is not a universal standard: Wella and Igora print their own. The family variants (Majirel Cool Cover for cool bases, Majirouge for intense reds, High Lift for maximum lightening) follow the same numbering logic.

1:1.5 — for every 50 ml of color, 75 ml of L'Oréal cream developer. It is the line's signature versus the 1:1 of INOA or Igora Royal: the mix is more fluid and covers more surface per tube.

20 vol (6%) and 35 minutes is the coverage standard. Over 70% gray, reinforce with the natural base of the same level (.0 background). To lift 2-3 levels go up to 30 vol; for tone-on-tone drop to 10 vol.

Same numbering, different chemistry. Majirel (ammonia) delivers maximum lift and the widest chart. INOA (ammonia-free, oil base) delivers absolute scalp comfort and zero smell. If the client is sensitive or rejects the smell, switch to the INOA chart; if the service needs power, Majirel.
